MRI

Memorial's MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) unit from GE Medical Systems
acquires data on 8 channels for rapid, efficient and high quality imaging. These
cross sectional images offer superior soft tissue images for specialists to interpret. Our MRI unit is housed in a large room with a beautiful sky light to help alleviate that "close-quarter" feeling. For more claustrophobic patients, we also offer an "Open Bore" MRI.

An MRI is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body. In many cases, MRI gives different information about structures in the body than can be seen with an X-ray, Ultrasound or CT (Computed Tomography) Scan
. MRI also may show problems that cannot be seen with other imaging methods.

Memorial utilizes the 1.5 Tesla Excite MRI which is considered the most advanced technology of its kind in the world and provides highly-detailed pictures which
allow Memorial physicians to evaluate a wide range of conditions including stroke, cancer, musculoskeletal and heart disease. This system reduces the length of MRI exams and provides superior, high-definition images with amazing clarity and detail in even the most difficult cases.
