President's Message

Greetings from Memorial Healthcare
President and CEO
James Full

Chances are you or a loved one has been cared for by Memorial Healthcare. With a 154-bed hospital, a comprehensive emergency room, three urgent care centers, outpatient rehabilitation centers, satellite primary care and specialty medical offices, and a cancer/endoscopy center, Memorial Healthcare provides high quality preventative, acute and rehabilitative care close to home.

With over 89 years of caring, Memorial Healthcare's community-based mission to provide high quality, compassionate healthcare in our region has been our foundation. As always, we continue to care for individuals, families and communities through our commitment to service excellence, teamwork and innovation. As the hospital chosen more often by the people in our region than any other serving the Greater Shiawassee County region, we dedicate our work to bringing our communities the best available healthcare and patient experience.

Memorial Healthcare continually asks itself, "How can we improve quality, be the safest hospital possible, and provide an exceptional patient-care experience? What can we do as healthcare professionals, teams and leaders to ensure quality and safety? Over the past year, Memorial Healthcare was recognized for its efforts to improve quality and for its ability to find workable solutions to those questions. We are pleased that Memorial’s Healthcare’s performance was recognized by numerous organizations. Our Cancer Center earned accreditation with commendation from the American College of Surgeons; our Bariatric Center received full accreditation from the American College of Surgeons; and we earned the Governor’s Award of Excellence for improving care in the Emergency Department, inpatient setting, and our primary care and specialty offices. For the eighth year in 2009, Hospitals & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association, recognized Memorial Healthcare as one of the nation’s Top 100 "Most Wired Hospitals." These are tremendous achievements for our entire organization, but more importantly, they speak to our focus to use our expertise and technology to improve quality of care, patient flow and outcomes.

Every Memorial Healthcare employee plays a role in our ability to be successful in these areas, and we continue to develop programs and processes in place to help us to consistently improve and reach our quality goals. These programs represent just a few examples of the effort underway at Memorial Healthcare to be the highest-quality hospital in the region.

To learn more about the exceptional clinical and support services Memorial Healthcare offers, we invite you to explore our website and read this year’s Annual Report. We hope it will give you greater insight into how Memorial Healthcare demonstrates its commitment to you – our neighbors and fellow community members.
